About SGI
Silicon Graphics Image
The raster format of Silicon Graphics workstations, also seen with the .rgb and .bw extensions, stored raw or with run-length encoding. Convert from SGI to open images from old IRIX software and 3D pipelines.
About DDS
DirectDraw Surface
Microsoft's DirectX texture container. It usually stores GPU-compressed data (the DXT or BCn formats) with mipmaps, so a graphics card can load it without decoding. Convert to DDS for game textures and mods; convert from it to view or edit a texture.
